Communication has undergone more evolutions than most species in the universe. Whether instantaneous or delayed, the need to pass vital and tertiary messages to one another has always been on the forefront of progress. In this modern era of space travel, messages travel across the vacuum of space in mere seconds, though this technology is not available to all. A more modest form of the technology still exists in the form of Beacons.
Beacons are deployable devices with a small crystal reactor that can store short messages and broadcast them constantly across a small radius for incredible amounts of time. They are however, extremely fragile and can be destroyed either by accident or for sabotage. While not typically used by factions to broadcast official messages, these beacons should be regarded as possible messengers of warning or caution from other ships that have passed through the area.
